Root Vegetable Bake
You'll need:
- A turnip
- A parsnip
- A sweet potato
- 1 cup of baby carrots
- 5 or 6 pearl onions
- 1/4 cup of chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon rock salt
- An adult helper
Equipment:
- A medium-sized casserole dish
- A sharp knife
- A big spoon
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Ask your adult helper if they will please cut the turnip, parsnip, and sweet potato into1 inch chunks.
- Put the onions, carrots and the cut up vegetables in the casserole dish.
- Sprinkle the rock salt over the vegetables.
- Pour the chicken stock over the vegetables.
- Now your going to mix it all up with your hands. Make sure they're clean.
- Put the casserole dish into the oven and bake for 1 hour. Have your adult helper stir the vegetables from time to time so that they will get coated with the chicken stock and vegetable juices on all sides.
- When the edges of the vegetables get slightly brown, that means they are done.
