Root Vegetable Bake

You'll need:

  • A turnip
  • A parsnip
  • A sweet potato
  • 1 cup of baby carrots
  • 5 or 6 pearl onions
  • 1/4 cup of chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon rock salt
  • An adult helper

Equipment:

  • A medium-sized casserole dish
  • A sharp knife
  • A big spoon
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Ask your adult helper if they will please cut the turnip, parsnip, and sweet potato into1 inch chunks.
  3. Put the onions, carrots and the cut up vegetables in the casserole dish.
  4. Sprinkle the rock salt over the vegetables.
  5. Pour the chicken stock over the vegetables.
  6. Now your going to mix it all up with your hands. Make sure they're clean.
  7. Put the casserole dish into the oven and bake for 1 hour. Have your adult helper stir the vegetables from time to time so that they will get coated with the chicken stock and vegetable juices on all sides.
  8. When the edges of the vegetables get slightly brown, that means they are done.
