E-Z Barbecue Sauce
You'll need:
- 1 cup of ketchup
- 1/2 cup of vinegar
- 3 tablespoons of honey
- 3 cloves of garlic minced (chopped very fine)
- A pinch of black pepper
1. Put ketchup, vinegar, honey, garlic and pepper in a bowl.
2. Stir slowly so the mixture wonıt splash.
3. Pour over chicken, ribs, hamburger or even tofu.
4. Let set for 10 minutes in the refrigerator.
5. Bake the chicken for 40 minutes.
If you want to grill the chicken instead, use a spoon to scrape
most of the sauce off the chicken. Put the sauce in a small pan
and bring it to a boil. Turn the heat down low and cook for 10
minutes. Save the sauce until the chicken is nearly cooked on
the grill.
Make sure you have an adult start the grill. Remember the grill
sides will get really hot, so youıll want to use long-handled
tongs or a long-handled fork to turn the chicken.
Grease dripping down from the chicken can cause flames to leap
up suddenly so if your fire is hot you might not want to put your
barbecue on the direct heat.
Slow cooking is best. Once youıve browned your barbecue on both
sides, move it away from the heat and put the lid on the grill.
This sort of bakes and grills at the same time. Every 5 minutes
or so, check the chicken to see if itıs getting done. Turn it
so both sides are evenly cooked.
Cook the chicken until juices coming out are clear when you poke
it with a fork. The length of time will depend on how thick your
chicken pieces are and how hot the fire is.
When the chicken is nearly done, brush the sauce on one side.
Let that cook for a bit and then turn the chicken over and brush
the other side.
