What's a picnic without hamburgers? Since we were making chicken on
the indoor grill, we had to come up with a fun way to include
hamburgers and hot dogs.
{Makes 12 decorated cupcakes}
You'll need:
12 cupcakes
Vanilla frosting
12 vanilla wafers
6 chocolate "grasshopper" patties
12 peanut crisps
6 individually wrapped toffee candies
1 small tube red cake decorating icing
1 small tube yellow cake decorating icing
A little adult help
Equipment:
A butter knife
A plate
Let's make a hamburger first. Put a dab of icing on the flat side of a vanilla wafer and lay a chocolate patty on top.
Put
a ring of red icing around the edge of the chocolate patty and follow
that with some yellow. That's your ketchup and mustard.
Put another dab of icing in the middle of
the chocolate patty and place another vanilla wafer on top with the
flat side down. Doesn't that look like a mini hamburger?
Put icing on your cupcake, then place the hamburger on top.
Next,
let's do the hot dog cupcake. Start with a frosted cupcake. Wedge the
two peanut butter crisps into the frosting, leaving about a 1/4 inch
gap between them.
Open the twisted ends of the wrapper on the
toffee. While the wrapper is still on, roll the toffee between the
palms of you hands. This will warm the toffee up slightly so you can
roll it into a hot dog shape.
Place the "hot dog" between the peanut butter crisps.
Give a squiggle of red and yellow icing to make it look like there's mustard and ketchup on the hot dog.
Arrange your hamburger and hotdog cupcakes on a plate and serve. Totally cute!
