Breakfast on the Go Bars Print E-mail

Miss Marcia from Petit Chefs gave us a whole bag of toy car wheels saying, "Maybe you can do something with these."

Well, that got us thinking. So we washed up a set of wheels and made Breakfast on the Go Bars that really could go!

If you don't have wheels, don't worry. The bars will make their way to your mouth anyway. Have fun with this recipe.

{Makes 12 Go Bars}

You'll need:

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar - firmly packed
  • 1/2 stick butter, softened
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup of nuts - optional
  • Cooking spray
  • A little adult help


  • A large mixing bowl
  • A large spoon
  • 8 X 8 inch square baking pan
  • Hot pads
  • A trivet
      1. Cream sugar and butter together. You can do it by hand or with a mixer but remember, you burn calories if you do it by hand.
      2. Add the vanilla and the eggs, mix well.
      3. Stir in the oats and cranberries.
      4. Spray the bottom the pan.
      5. Press the dough into the pan.
      6. Bake at 350 F for 35-40 minutes or until the top is brown and the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the pan.
      7. Remove the pan from the oven and set it on the trivet to cool. When cool, cut into bars.
