Tuscan Bean Dip Print E-mail

This dip is a favorite at the Gerasole house. Liv and Belle learned to make if from their dad, who learned to make it from their grandmother. Tuscan Bean Dip makes a great appetizer or an after-school snack. Served it surrounded by baby carrots and pea pods or spread it on sandwiches instead of mayonnaise.

{Makes 8 servings}

You'll need:

  • 1 - 14 ounce can of cannellini beans
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • A little adult help


  • A food processor or blender
  • A spatula
  • A serving bowl
  1. Have your adult helper (parent, older brother, sister, aunt, uncle, grandparent or cousin) open the can of beans, drain them and throw away the sharp-edged lid.
  2. If you're using a food processor, ask this older helper to put the absolutely razor-sharp blade into the bowl for you.
  3. Now you can pour the beans into the processor or blender.
  4. Next, add the olive oil and garlic. Two cloves of garlic will work just as well if you're not garlic lovers like we are.
  5. Put the top the processor or blender on and give it a whirl!
  6. Use the chop and mix buttons, in turns, until the dip is smooth.
  7. Ask for help! Let your adult helper get the blade out of the processor for you.
  8. Using a spatulatta - Whoops! we mean a spatula - scrape the dip into a bowl.
  9. Enjoy with veggies, chips or crackers. Yum!
