With summer just around the corner this yummy dessert from our friend, Kira, at Traughber Middle School is right in season. But you can enjoy it all year 'round by using frozen berries.

Liv and Belle were invited to do a cooking demo and book signing at Traughber and the students there put together the "Taste of Traughber Cookbook" as a gift. We chose 5 recipes that made up a complete meal. But there are lots and lots more! Our thanks to Kira, all the other students who participated and to Ms. Loretta Burke their teacher who organized the event. Great job!

{Makes 4-6 servings}

You'll need:

  • 3/4 cup of milk
  • 6 tablespoons of butter
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup Bisquick Mix
  • 6 cups mixed berries ( can be frozen blueberries, raspberries and blackberries)
  • 1 1/2 cup of oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup of almonds (optional)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup of brown sugar


  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • 9 x 9 cake pan
  • A large bowl
  • A large spoon
  • Oven pads or mitts
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Grease a 9 x 9 cake pan
  3. Pour berries in the pan.
  4. Mix together the milk, vanilla, 2 tablespoons of the butter, Bisquick, sugar, eggs and 1/2 cup of oatmeal.
  5. Pour the mixture over the berries.
  6. Mix 1 cup of oatmeal, 4 more tablespoons of butter, brown sugar and almonds. Sprinkle on top.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until it turns solid in the middle.
  8. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
