"Why My Mom's the BEST!"
Essay Contest
Please read rules before entering.
Who can enter the contest?
Any child under the age of 15 who is a legal resident of the United States is eligible to participate except children of employees of Spatulatta LLC and Barilla Pasta, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and immediate families of each. Contest is void where prohibited.
How can kids enter the contest?
To enter, submit a essay of 50 words or less of why your mom is the best. Tell us about your mom's good qualities, how she helps you grow or how much fun she is. Or tell us a story that shows why your mom is the best mom ever.
All entries must be the original writing of the contestant. Judges will disqualify essays or parts of essays copied from books, magazines or on-line. Winner and winner's parent or legal guardian will be required to certify that contestant's essay is original.
Entries are limited to one per child. Multiple entries will not be excepted. In the case of multiple entries the earliest postmark with be the one judged. All entries should include the entrant's name, age, state and e-mail address.
How will the recipes be judged?
A panel of judges from Spatulatta.com will evaluate the essays. Essays will be judged 90% on their creativity & originality and 10% on grammar, spelling, etc.
The entry with the highest overall score will be selected as the Prize winner. All decisions of the judges are final. In the event of a tie, a second essay or other skill-based competition will be required to determine the winner.
What is the prize?

Prizes are non-transferable; no prize substitutions allowed except as provided herein. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value should advertised prizes become unavailable. All taxes on prizes are the winner's sole responsibility.
What is the deadline for entering?
Entries must be received by e-mail or postmarked by May 31, 2007.

All entries should include the entrant's name, age, and phone number.
All entries become the property of sponsor and will not be returned. Submission of an entry grants Sponsor and its agents the right to publish, use, adapt, edit and/or modify such entry in any way, in any and all media, without limitation, for commercial or non-commercial use, and without additional consideration to the entrant, except where prohibited by law. Submission of any entry further constitutes the entrant's consent to irrevocably assign and transfer to the sponsor any or all rights, title and interest in the entry, including, without limitation, all copyrights. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for lost, late, damaged, misdirected, illegible, incomplete or postage-due mail/entries or for any human or technical error in the transmission or receipt of facsimile or electronic mail entries. Proof of posting does not constitute proof of receipt by Sponsor.
When will winners be notified?
Winners will be notified by mail or email by June 1, 2007. Except where prohibited, acceptance of prize constitutes winner's consent to the use of his/her name, likeness and biographical information, for advertising and promotional purposes, without limitation and without additional compensation.
Winner's parent or legal guardian will be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release within 21 days of prize notification or prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate winner.
If prize notification or any prize is returned as undeliverable, the corresponding prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner.
