Bright green frogs look out over a green graveyard lawn that's
studded with eyeballs dripping with blood! What Halloween monster
wouldn't gobble them all up?
We chose a bloody, red salad dressing for this dish - French or raspberry vinegrette.
{Makes 4-6 servings}
You'll need:
1 small bag of mixed baby greens
1 small bag of shredded carrots
1 small green pepper
3 hard boiled eggs - peeled
1 teaspoon of cream cheese or hummos
Black sesame seeds
French or raspberry vinegrette dressing
Lots of adult help
Equipment:
A paring knife
A serving plate
A zipper-type sandwich bag
Kitchen shears or scissors
Spead out a bed of greens.
Put a couple of handfuls of carrot shreds right in the center.
The
key to making the frogs is to find the lobes that look the most like
frog bodies - the rounded bottom being the bottom of the frog. When
you've studied the pepper a bit, have dad cut it in half one lobe makes
the body and two half lobes on either side will make the legs.
Ask dad to sculpt the legs. Watching the video will definitely help!
Use
a dab of cream cheese to paste two sesame seeds for eyes. If you have
anyone with allergies to milk at the party, use hummos
Arrange the frogs on top of the carrots so their green will stand out against the bright orange.
Cut the hard-boiled eggs in half and arrange them on the salad.
Pour a little salad dressing into the zipper bag and cut a tiny bit off the corner.
Squeeze little squiggles of dressing out for bloody streaks on the whites of the eyes.
