Kayla and Olivia's dad, Mr. Pete owns Seedling Fruit Farm in South Haven, Michigan. Seedling is an orchard with about 18 varieties of apples. They also raise a number of different types of berries.
Mr. Pete made up this fun recipe for micro-mini strawberry shortcakes that you can take anywhere with you - that's if they make it out of the kitchen!
Olivia from Seedling Fruit Farm is being helped in the kitchen today by her cousin, Anna S. Let's hear it for cousins!
{Makes 10-15 depending on the size of the strawberries }
You'll need:
A pint of strawberries
2-3 graham crackers
Whipped cream in a can
Equipment:
A colander
A small knife
A zipper sandwich bag
A rolling pin
Rinse the berries and let them drain.
Break a graham cracker in two and slip it into the zipper bag. Close it securely.
Use your fingers or a rolling pin to crush it until you have fine crumbs.
Cut bottom off a strawberry so it will sit upright on the plate. Then cut the green top off the strawberry and hollow out the center. We found a grapefruit knife, with a slight curve at the tip, works best.
Shake the can of whipped cream well.
Squirt a little whipped cream into the top of the berry.
