Getting Ready to Cook

Cooks have a responsibility to make sure their hands and their tools are clean.

The most important thing when you begin to cook is to wash your hands with soap and warm water.  Wash around your nails and between your fingers – all the way up to your wrist.

How long should you wash your hands before you cook? We suggest that you wash your hands for as long as it takes to sing one chorus of Old Mac Donald.

In case you don't know the words:

Old Mac Donald had a farm Eee-I-Eee-I-O

And on his farm he had a dog Eee-I-Eee-I-O

With a woof woof here, and a woof, woof there.

Here a woof, there a woof, everywhere a woof, woof.

Old Mac Donald had a farm Eee-I-Eee-I-O!
